Helping you be Heard

We get asked often “what does the Chamber do?” And one of my favorite things that we do is amplify your voice. People seem to like that phrase ‘we amplify your voice’. It may sound a bit like a buzz word, so I thought we could dig into exactly what amplification means. We can look at how you can use our amplification to grow your business and increase your messaging reach with the Chamber’s help. Remember the shampoo commercial of the 80’s where Heather Locklear said she liked it so much that she told two friends and they told two friends and so-on and so-on. Well, it is sort of like that, and much more.
A definition:
Amplification – 1) the process of increasing the volume of sound, especially using an amplifier; and 2) the action of enlarging upon or adding detail to a story or statement.
The Chamber can help you with both. We can increase your volume by sharing your details in front of a larger audience and from another source. We can also help by adding detail to your story. The more we know about you, the more we can talk about you to the many people who call us looking for referrals or asking us if we know someone who does x (enter your service or product here).
We will look at amplifying your voice online and offline. Online a couple of tools available are building your reach from organic to referrals and collaborative efforts. Offline, there is power in the word-of-mouth and business referrals.
Amplifying your online efforts:
To maximize your online reach, the formula goes organic / paid / social / referral. Organic traffic is important to your success, but to maximize the reach you will need amplification strategies. The first step is paying for content to be seen. But, as social media mediums play with their algorithms, this only gets you so far. The next step is to get social interactions happening with your content. This can be likes and comments which bring more traffic to your site. Further engagement comes as your audience refers your services and shares your content. As others start to talk about your products and services online, you increase your reach. We help by sharing your content and commenting on your work. This brings a new audience to your page and amplifies your voice.
We can also help connect you to businesses that are a match for collaborative efforts. Find a business with a similar audience but that isn’t direct competition. Cross-promoting to the same target audience increases your exposure and that of your collaborator. This is another way the Chamber can help. As we cross promote by liking and sharing your social media content it reaches a broader audience. Our followers are mostly local and this helps support the shop local movement.
Amplifying your offline efforts:
Off-line we are also there for your business. Word-of-mouth (WOM) referrals are important to business growth. If you ask your customers how they found you, you would find the majority were referred to you by someone they know. 91% of B2B purchasers said their buying decisions were influenced by WOM. Without a doubt, WOM engagement is vital for all organizations, entrepreneurs, and firms – no matter the market sector.
We field a number of calls each week of people asking for this business or that. The more we know about your business, the more we can speak on your behalf. Business-to-business or B2B recommendations are also a huge part of our service. People looking for accounting or bookkeeping help, website developers, social media help, legal advice, plumber, builder, laundromat, and more.
Chamber networking and connecting events are another tool available to grow your business. The business, beer, and banter events are a time to meet with other business owners and discuss common concerns or lessons learned. We invite you to attend these events and build your own referral network.
The Chamber membership is full of expertise in a number of areas. And part of our joy is in connecting people looking for services to those who can provide those services. Your time is valuable and the only thing you cannot create more of. Let us research pieces for you. Let us help connect you to the right tools for your task. Let us help tell your story.
